SP-404MK II FX CTRL v1.1 Help
Hello
- This is a web-MIDI FX controller for the Roland SP-404 mk II.
- Randomize can produce silence, feedback, or very hot levels—monitor quietly first.
- Best viewed in Chrome / Edge on a desktop computer with SP-404 mk II OS 5.x (Works on 4.x too albeit without knob control)
- Touchscreen support is present but still in development.
1. MIDI
- Connect the SP-404 mk II via USB to your device.
- Click MIDI → choose the SP-404 mk II for both I/O ports.
- Ensure the mk II is in MIDI Mode B, Pad Channels are 1/2, and clock out is enabled.
- All parameter MIDI CCs are sent to—and received from—the hardware in real-time.
- Panic! turns all FX and MIDI off.
2. Bus FX
- Bus FX On/Off – click the yellow bus-button or press 1-5 to toggle FX bypass.
- Bus MIDI On/Off – click the green bus-button or press Q-T to toggle MIDI output.
- Bypass/FX On or Off – ⌘/Ctrl + click the bus button to bypass or restore the previous FX.
- FX Type – select from the drop-down menu.
- Parameters – up to six sliders or toggles per FX; hold ⌘/Ctrl while dragging to “Control All.”
- Drag the “grab bar” at the bottom of any FX column to swap compatible FX between buses.
3. Randomize
- Click
% FX Types, % Parameters, or % All to randomize selected buses.
- The “Row %” in the Bus Matrix toggles which buses are affected.
- Shift + click a bus yellow FX button → randomize up to six parameters on that bus (Morph must be inactive).
- Shift + click the Morph, LFO, or Envelope green on/off button → randomize all module parameters.
- Shift + click the Presets label → fill all empty slots with random patches.
4. Morph Pad
- Morph On/Off – click the Morph button or press 8.
- Shift + click the Morph header → randomize all four Morph corners; ⌘/Ctrl + click → reset corners.
- Click any of the four corner buttons to capture the current FX-parameter snapshot to that corner.
- Shift + click a corner button → randomize that corner; ⌘/Ctrl + click → clear it.
- Drag a corner button onto another to swap snapshots.
- Drag the yellow circle (Pad Joystick) between corners to morph; disabled if Morph is Off or LFO is On.
- To edit modulated parameters: turn Morph Off, tweak controls, then Shift + click a knob/slider to remove it from Morph modulation.
5. LFO
- LFO On/Off – click the LFO header or press 9; ⌘/Ctrl + click resets all LFO controls.
- Mode – Free (rate sliders) or Sync (MIDI-clock divisions).
- Shape – sine, triangle, square, saw, ramp, noise.
- Rate / Division X·Y, Depth X·Y, Center X·Y – click a label to reset that field; Shift + click the header to randomize every LFO control.
6. Envelope
- Envelope On/Off – click the Envelope button or press 0; Shift + click header → randomize all controls; ⌘/Ctrl + click → reset to defaults.
- Click Learn then press a pad to assign the envelope trigger.
- DADSR – master T (Time) plus proportional D, A, D, S, R sliders.
- Curve & Gain – shape the contour and sensitivity.
- 6 Destinations – route the envelope to any FX or LFO parameter or Morph X/Y (direct or inverted).
7. Presets
- Shift + click a slot → save/overwrite the current state.
- ⌘/Ctrl + click a slot → delete it.
- Click an active slot → load it; click an empty slot → load blank.
- Drag & drop slots to reorder; last-loaded flashes yellow.
- Export, Import or Clear All.
8. Global Shortcuts
- ⌘/Ctrl + Z → Undo | ⇧ + ⌘/Ctrl + Z or Ctrl + Y → Redo.
- 1-5 → Bus FX On/Off; Q-T → Bus MIDI On/Off.
- 8 → Morph | 9 → LFO | 0 → Envelope.
- Hold ⌘/Ctrl while moving a parameter slider to apply to all buses simultaneously.
